Older Skin Needs a Blueberry Facial
Older skin needs all the help it can get to maintain a glow of any kind. Commercial skincare products promise eternal youth, but are laden with chemicals and usually fail to deliver anything except BS.
This is when we older women (and men! Good skincare is important for you, too) need to turn to Mother Nature for help. If anyone understands eternal youth it is Mama Nature.
The blueberry is the number one antioxidant fruit known far and wide for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. These healthy benefits coat and protect the brain from signs of age-related deterioration.
Antioxidants (vitamins C and E) are necessary in your diet if you want to maintain healthy skin and brain health, as well help reduce skin- inflammation, which is the basic reason for aging and wrinkling.
You can get more mileage out of blueberries, though, if you also use them as a facial mask! Feed your skin directly with a cheap and safe homemade facial that will leave your older skin incredibly smooth, soft, and hydrated.
Making the basic mask is simple. First, rinse 1 cup of fresh blueberries under running water. You do not want any pesticides the farmer may have sprayed on the fruit getting into you.
Second, crush the blueberries into a smooth pulp including the skin. It will not stain your skin blue.
Third, spread the crushed pulp evenly all over your face. You can use this mask around your eyes. It will not clog pores. Leave the mask on from five to fifteen minutes. Try to spend this time in a relaxed state, listening to music or meditating. Rest is another important necessity for healthy skin. Finally, rinse off the pulp mask.
Your skin will feel amazingly soft, smooth, and look clearer and well fed because it has been well fed.
Use this mask as often as you like. The more you use it the better the results.
You may think blueberries are too expensive to use as a mask, and you would be right if you bought blueberries at a big chain grocery store. You can buy a pack of blueberries, when in season, for a buck at stores like the 99 Cent store.
You can mix other natural ingredients into this mask; honey, wheat germ, lemon juice, aloe vera gel, clay. Sugar added to crushed blueberries makes a wonderful hydrating exfoliating mask. Consider your skin type before you decide which ingredients to blend into the mask.
Sprinkle blueberries on your morning cereal, eat them by the handfulbut don’t forget to also wear them on your face.
